In my own personal hCG journey, I found that when I ate shrimp, fish, and crab regularly I lost more weight when I got on that scale in the morning then when I ate other hCG Phase 2 proteins.  As a result, I started incorporating shrimp or other seafood into my Phase 2 meals at least 4-5 times per week and especially  if I felt like I was stalling out or reaching a weight loss plateau.  Shrimp is such a versatile, delicious hCG diet protein and super quick and easy to prepare.  I recommend buying high quality, wild caught shrimp whenever possible for good health and a really flavorful and delicious P2 meal.

This summer I found myself incredibly  inspired by the most beautiful and tasty Heirloom tomatoes.  I had some large Wild blue shrimp on hand and after a little playing and tweaking in the kitchen came up with this beautiful HCG Phase 2 shrimp recipe featuring Heirloom tomatoes and savory herbs (Feel free to use fresh or dried herbs).  This Phase 2 Shrimp recipe, incorporates the smoky richness of smoked paprika with aromatic garlic and sweet basil.  These shrimp taste great and pair nicely with other HCG Phase 2 vegetables as well.  An alternative to a pan sauté  would be a Barbecue wrap or skewered and grilled.  Delicious!

HCG Phase 2 Shrimp Recipe

Savory Herb Shrimp with Heirloom Tomatoes

Ingredients 100 grams shrimp (raw) Heirloom Tomatoes, sliced (one to one and a half cups)

1/2 cup water

1/8 tsp. fresh or dried basil

1 Clove garlic, crushed and minced

Pinch of chili powder

Pinch of smoked paprika

1 Tbs. apple cider vinegar

Squeeze of lemon (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Makes 1 serving

Directions

Saute shrimp in water for several minutes until cooked (cooking time will vary depending on the size of shrimp you use), add garlic, vinegar, herbs, and spices.  Allow water to evaporate then deglaze the pan with a few teaspoons more water to create a flavorful herb sauce.  Present and serve on a bed of sliced heirloom tomatoes.
