Getting started with the HCG Diet? This HCG Phase 2 Foods List can help you choose the right foods to help you lose the maximum amount of weight. When choosing foods for your Phase 2 meals, make sure to stay below a total of 500 calories for the day. Please note that this HCG Phase 2 foods list is based on the original HCG Diet Pounds and Inches protocol created by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons.
I personally recommend choosing organic, hormone free, non-GMO, wild caught and humanely raised proteins and organic, pesticide free fruits and vegetables whenever possible.
HCG Phase 2 Proteins
HCG Phase 2 proteins are portioned in 100 gram servings. All proteins must be weighed raw.
Choose breast meat only with skin and all fat removed
Choose extra lean cuts or ground meat and make sure all excess fat is trimmed off and removed.
Vegetarian Protein Options
Variety is the spice of life and a real key to success while on Phase 2 of the HCG Diet and you may want to enjoy these vegetarian options on occasion.
100 grams of cottage cheese, nonfat, 1% or up to 2% are an approved HCG Diet protein source. Note that you may lose more slowly eating cottage cheese due to the milk sugars.
1 whole egg plus 3 egg whites
1 whole egg with 3 egg whites is a satisfying and delicious vegetarian option for the HCG Diet. Try it scrambled or baked into a fritatta with fresh herbs. If you are in a hurry and want an HCG Diet shake, you can alternatively enjoy a protein shake made from egg whites (plain or sweetened with stevia only)
HCG Phase 2 Vegetables
Dr. Simeons didn’t put a specific guideline as to how many vegetables are in a serving. A general guideline for is 1 1/2 cups but feel free to eat more if you find yourself hungry. According to the original HCG Diet Protocol, it is not recommended to mix vegetables at the same meal.
HCG Phase 2 Fruit
1 handful (approximately 5 medium strawberries)
1 Apple (medium)
Note: Some people have more difficulty losing weight eating the orange)
HCG Diet Phase 2 Misc. ingredients
You may enjoy the following foods in moderation or as indicated.
Juice of one lemon per day
Coffee, tea, and sparkling water
1 Tablespoon of milk
Fresh herbs and spices
(Recipes in the HCG Diet Gourmet Cookbooks contain small amounts of onions and garlic)
Stevia (The recommended zero calorie/no sugar sweetener while on the HCG Diet Phase 2)
Salt and Pepper
(Enjoy salt in moderation)
Apple cider vinegar
Note: Not everyone can eat Shirataki Noodles on HCG Phase 2 so discontinue them on your P2 if you notice difficulty losing weight.
Chicken and Beef Broth
Homemade chicken and beef broth is preferred so you can choose your ingredient and control salt intake but you can use commercial broths and still be successful with your diet.
