Hi Tammy. I just came across your HCG diet book that is posted online and thought it would be a valuable source for our patients. We are an internal medicine practice that recently began prescribing the HCG diet and have been amazed with the wonderful success rate. We currently provide copies of Dr Simeons book in office and are posting it online and we would like to have your permission to do same with yours. We will post your site address, of course, so that patients can continue to obtain updates from you as well. Your site may be a valuable resource for our patients. Please advise your thoughts/

I have a question regarding a recipe in the HCG diet gourmet cookbook – so far have enjoyed the recipes; however, there is a recipe for Chicken Pesto pg. 59 which turned out like water. It calls for 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves and 1/4 cup chicken broth or water. I used chicken broth. It came out VERY runny. Perhaps there is a typo on the amount of chicken broth. Next time I try it I will definitely cut down on the broth. Any suggestions?

    • Tammy September 3, 2010 at 8:38 pm #

Hi Barbara, The texture of a totally fat free/sans nuts/parmesan pesto does tend to be a bit runny. You could try decreasing a little of the broth or cooking the pesto down a bit or cooking the broth, spices, with a slice of lemon with rind that will thicken it slightly. I’ve learned a lot and played more with the recipes since I first wrote them over 3 years ago so that is what I recommend. Another possibility is to try a pinch (just a pinch) of konjac flour as a thickener. It should mess up the diet and will thicken the pesto a little. Pure fiber too.

Where do I purchase 0 sugar cottage cheese please?

    • Tammy September 6, 2010 at 6:37 pm #

Hi there, All milk and dairy products have milk sugar. Dr. Simeons explained that vegetarians could have milk or curd cheese as a substitute for meat, chicken, and fish but they would lose less than those eating the meat. My new P2 cookbook coming out in a couple of months will have some egg and cheese recipes in it. I don’t recommend using the cheese more than 2-3 times per week though because I don’t want people to stall out. Dieters have also reported success using egg white protein powder (sugar and starch free) It is nice to have the variety but don’t overdo it. Hope this helps you 🙂

    Hi Tammy,
You cookbook is awesome, however, I am extremely busy working 7 days a week, a friend told me you also have a home delivery for meals, that can be shipped to me. Is that true, and if so, how can I get this?
    Regards,
    Pattie

    • Tammy January 14, 2011 at 7:19 am #

      Hi Pattie,

Thanks so much! I don’t currently have a meal delivery plan. I have thought about about setting something up like that in the future but I’m just so busy finishing up the new cookbooks. I’ll for sure blog about it if I go that direction in the future. Thanks for sharing. Tammy

  8. Marti January 24, 2011 at 7:11 pm #

It’s Jan and I am starting my second round of the HCG Diet. This time my husband is doing it with me. I did the first one back in Oct, lost 20lbs and gained back 12 over the Holidays. I’m looking forward to this second time adventure. I have your Gourmet Cookbook and would like updates on the recipes that have been added or revised. How do I get those? Also, Please, where are the p3 and Maintenance recipes? Last time I think I overdid the 1/2 and 1/2 and low sugar dairy foods. We are all looking to you for guidance and support.

    • Tammy January 26, 2011 at 7:26 am #

Really happy for you guys! Best to you both! Did you buy the book as an e-book? Or did you buy the print book last year? The print book is up to date. I’m discontinuing the old e-book. I’m also going to back to May first and offering anyone who bought the ebook the print book. I just haven’t sent out the email yet. Do sign up for my newsletter. I’ve been so busy working on the new P2 cookbook and also finishing up the Spanish translation. A Phase 3 and Shirataki cookbook are also in the works for this year. I’ll be posting here and blogging more as soon as some of these projects get done. For P3 and Maintenance. Get on to natural foods as organic as possible. Watch or eliminate sugar. Consider some cleanses. Drink lots of water. You might be sensitive to dairy or gluten. It sounds like you might be. Remember everyone is different. If something triggers you say.. potatoes on maintenance then cut down or avoid it. Keep a journal. Watch out for hidden starches. Some nuts are coated with starch for example. Really read food labels. Good luck you guys. I know I’ve been super busy lately but it is my intention to really make this blog and my website a place of support.

How can I get your P3 Cookbook that is in addition to the Gourmet Cookbook, which I already have. This is my second roung of HCG and I love your cookbook.

    • Tammy February 1, 2011 at 2:29 am #

Hi Marti, Thanks so much!!! The reason the P3 cookbook isn’t out yet is that I’ve been refining what works and my own health message. The P3 cookbook will not have fat grams nor calorie counts in it. The reason for this being that I want us all to get AWAY from the idea that we have to diet for the rest of our life. Not true, and eating low fat actually contributes to obesity. Go figure… I swear everything is just ….. backwards. I’m planning to release the P3 cookbook this year along with the Fibernoodle Shirataki cookbook also. Wishing you all the best on your second round! Good luck to you!

I started my HCG injections a month ago. I only lost 15 lbs. Was disappointed. The clinic I went to told that was wonderful since I am a 57 year old. I am doing another month but I am getting so bored with the chicken and turkey. Can’t really eat spicy food because I have ulcers. Need some advise. Why am I not losing like the others. Thanks

    • Tammy March 23, 2011 at 12:32 am #

A few things to consider… turkey is not allowed. Some clinics say it is and modify the diet quite a bit but I personally stalled out when I was on the diet eating super lean turkey breast. You might first try avoiding turkey. Second thing… evaluate the diet and everything you are eating. Make sure it is fat free. Make sure you are not using any oil on your skin. Just really double check that you are doing everything in accordance with the original Pounds and Inches HCG diet plan by Dr. Simeons. The details really count with the HCG Diet program. Other consideration that might be contributing to your slower weight loss are: Issues like menopause and hormones. With regard to spicy food.. just tone it down with the hot spices and focus on fresh herbs. You could also look into some natural remedies for ulcers and see if that helps. Many herbs can actually be beneficial for digestion etc. All the best to you!

  14. Maria October 18, 2011 at 5:20 pm #

I would like to subscribe. I’m on day 11 of P2. I’m still hungry and am wondering if I should up my Hcg a little. I’m on drops. I’ve lost 7 lbs and think it should be more. I’m following to a T but had to use lotion for dry hands and lips. Any good suggestions for lotions or lip treatment that would work and not interupt the diet?

    • Tammy October 18, 2011 at 8:28 pm #

Hi Maria! To subscribe, just go to my website at http://www.HCGRecipes.com and sign up at the right of the page — that will alert you every time there’s a new blog post, special on my books, updates, etc.

If you are experiencing above normal hunger, I would consider returning to your doctor and questioning the freshness of the hcg or possibly switching brands or change from drops to injections, or from homeopathic to RX hcg.

In cases of severe dryness or cracking, a small amount of mineral oil or aloe vera juice can be used on problem areas.

I hope that helps and please keep me updated!

  16. Lynne February 14, 2012 at 6:03 pm #

I would like to suscribe to your HCG Diet Blog! I am on Phase 2 day 7. Have lost inches but only 3 lbs. I have the new pounds and inches , your first and second gourmet cookbook.

    • Tammy February 14, 2012 at 7:23 pm #

Hi Lynne and thanks for writing! Thank you so much for purchasing my books and for reading Pounds and Inches to learn all about the diet, which I highly recommend doing. 3 pounds may not seem like much but losing inches is great! If you have been faithful to the diet as recommended by Dr. Simeons and you think there may be a problem, I would check with your doctor and make sure your hcg is fresh and you’re keeping it refrigerated. Whatever you do, don’t give up! You’re losing weight and very important inches!

I don’t currently have an RSS feed set up on my blog but if you would like to be sure not to miss any new blog posts, you can subscribe to my newsletter at http://www.HCGRecipes.com.

Thank you again for purchasing my books and please keep me updated — including letting me know what your fav recipes are!

  17. Cindy April 29, 2012 at 5:14 pm #

    Hi Tammy,
I am on my 2nd round of the HCG diet. I am on Phase 2, day 30 (doing the 43 day phase) and all together I have lost 54 pounds, which I am very proud of! I also bought your HCG Diet Gourmet Cookbook, which I love. I especially like the sauces I can put on fish and chicken, etc..
I have three questions…..I was reading your blog, and it said something about taking hcg six days a week. I thought we were supposed to take it 7 days a week until we went past 23 days, then we needed to skip a day a week. Did I get this wrong?
Also, do I take my last HCG on day 40 or 43?
My normal routine is take HCG around 6am, apple at 10 am, lunch at 12:30 (no apple), dinner at 5:30. So, if I take my last HCG at 6am on Thursday, I wait 72 hours, which would be 6am on Sunday, when do I eat my first P3 meal?

Thank you for being such a great support during this journey!

    Cindy
    Denver, CO

    • Tammy May 5, 2012 at 12:12 am #

Hi Cindy! Congratulations on your amazing 54 pound weight loss — you should indeed be extremely proud! I’m so happy you like my cookbook and that it’s helped you get through the diet a little easier.

Yes, when you do the 43 day P2, you are supposed to take off one day per week – this is to help prevent immunity. It won’t hurt you to take the hcg each day, but you have a higher chance of struggling with immunity.

You take the HCG through Day 43; then start your Phase 3 diet 72 hours later. Don’t be overly concerned if you’re off a couple hours, or even a day, if you can’t go the entire 43 days.

Best of continued luck on your diet!

  18. kelly mcmillin April 2, 2013 at 5:18 am #

Hi Tammy, I can’t thank you enough for this cookbook!!! It definitely is a key to success – your recipes are delicious and I will continue to use them after phase 2!!

  19. Marti January 29, 2014 at 5:49 pm #

Did I blow it? Finished P2 properly then blew it the first 4days of P3. What should I do next? Do I start P3 again or wait the proper amount of time and start the diet over? HELP!
    Marti

    • HCGCookbook January 31, 2014 at 8:39 pm #

Hi Marti, You might be alright depending on how badly you gained. Try getting right back on track with a steak day or even two. Recommit to sticking to the P3 plan and keep me posted on how you are doing! I wish all the best

    Tammy,

My boyfriend and I are on HCG. I just ordered HCG vol 2. I am bearing with the diet.
However he finds the vegetables are getting to him.
My question is are there any other vegetable choices we can select like broccoli, kale,
    green beans or red peppers?

    • Tammy January 11, 2016 at 5:12 pm #

There aren’t any substitutions if you are following the original protocol I’m afraid. The recipes in Vol. 2 should help make the veggies a little more palatable. I ate tomatoes (try my HCG Chili Recipe, I could eat it every day) and asparagus a lot. Cabbage can be dressed up with spices and veggies can be pureed into a soup and Spinach can make a flavorful salad. Hope that helps.
