Preparing for the HCG Diet is kind of fun and it really helps you get in the spirit of losing weight to shop for and plan your weight loss journey. There is an excitement that comes with shopping for loading and your first diet foods and picking out your new scale but there is more to the preparation process that can benefit your weight loss. I’ve chosen these top 10 ways to prepare for the HCG Diet Phase 2 based on my own personal experience and I hope that it helps you make the most of your weight loss experience with the HCG Diet.
1) Weigh Yourself and Take good Before and After Pictures
Weighing yourself is one of the most important of my top 10 ways to prepare for the HCG Diet Phase 2. Charting your progress along the way can really help keep you motivated on days when you don’t see a loss and encouraged along the way. Consider taking some before and after pictures too so you can truly document the fantastic weight loss you are about to experience.
2) Take Accurate Before and After Measurements
Accurate measurements are so important when on the hCG Diet. I recommend taking a baseline set of measurements on the morning of your first day on the low calorie diet. Use a soft, flexible, and accurate measuring tape and take measurements at the same spot every week to document your progress. Check out my article on taking accurate before and and after measurements to track your progress HERE.
3) Buy the Right Supplies
Besides the actual hCG and mixing supplies, the most important thing you will need is a good quality and accurate scale to measure your daily weight (I recommend choosing one that weighs accurately within .2 pounds). Another important item for your supplies list is an accurate food scale. I like my digital Salter brand food scale but any good quality and accurate food scale will work. Choose one that measures in grams, converts to ounces and allows you to zero out your dish for greater accuracy when measuring your proteins.
Personal care items for the hCG Diet that you might order ahead of time to prepare for the HCG Diet are oil free lotion or Aquaphor for dryness and cuticles, Mineral powder makeup, and Crystal or oil free deoderant.
4) Make your HCG Phase 2 Shopping List
The day or two before you start your Phase 2, it will be time to stock up on the hCG diet foods you will enjoy for the next few weeks or months. Get familiar with your HCG Phase 2 Foods by reading Pounds and Inches, or check the Food Lists in your copy of The HCG Diet Gourmet Cookbook. It really helps you stay on track to keep a copy of your P2 shopping list on your fridge and having a shopping list helps prevent temptations and impulse buys at the grocery store.
5) Stock the Fridge with your First Week of Phase 2 Foods
Now that you have your shopping list, it’s time to pick up your groceries. Stock the fridge with all the foods you know you can have on Phase 2. Plan on doing your HCG Diet Shopping at least once a week to ensure the freshest and healthiest ingredients. Few tips for you: Try some fresh, delicious Strawberries as a versatile and delicious way to satisfy sweet cravings. a nice array of organic spices can keep your taste buds happy and your HCG Recipes delicious. A great, convenient way to shop for phase 2 is to buy your meats in bulk and freeze single servings to quick cook up for meals.
6) Clean out the Cupboards of All Junk food
Now is the time to clean out the cupboards as best you can of all temptations and junk food. I realize you may have kids or family who insist on their favorite foods (which might be junk) but try to keep it out of your line of sight and ask them to stash it in their room or keep it at the office while you are on the diet. Cleaning out the cupboards and stocking fresh with your healthy HCG diet foods can be very empowering and help you stay on track with your weight loss.
7) Prepare Some of Your Meals in Advance
As busy people, we love convenience. When on HCG Phase 2, I found it very easy to cook up multiple diet meals at once and freeze or store them for another day. That way, I could heat up a healthy P2 meal anytime if I was in a hurry or just didn’t feel like cooking. Some dieters cook up a weeks worth of meals at a time. Cooking meals in advance can be particularly helpful if you work full time, have a family, or are just busy in general.
8) Get the Support You Need
It’s no surprise that one of my top 10 ways to prepare for the HCG Diet is getting the support you need. There are some wonderful online and local support groups out there. You can ask all your questions, get advice and motivation or even a little pep talk if you are having a bad day. Very few people will understand what you are going through with the HCG Diet as well as another dieter and the support is invaluable.
9) Have a Plan and a Routine
Having a routine and a weight loss plan will help you make sure that you are on track with your weight loss. Consider, for example, waking up in the morning and taking your morning weight then following up with a big glass of lemon water and taking your morning injection. Believe it or not, its easy to get distracted when you are busy and miss your shot or even skip meals or not drink enough water which can cause you to be hungry and your diet less effective. Having a plan and a daily routine can prevent some of these issues.
10) The Right HCG Recipes!
Nothing will keep dropping the pounds better than the right HCG recipes. There are so many different variations of HCG Diet plans out there so choose recipes that jive with your program of choice. I personally believe in and recommend the original Dr. Simeons Pounds and Inches protocol and have found that it continues to be the most effective, long lasting, and most reliable way to lose weight with the hCG diet. You can find many delicious Phase 2 and 3 HCG recipes here on the HCGRecipes blog, my HCGCookbooks Pinterest boards, and of course there are many fool proof and diet proof HCG Recipes in my HCG Diet Gourmet Cookbook Series. It’s all about the food and delicious HCG meals are number 1 in my top 10 ways to prepare for the HCG Diet.
